“The only Christian work is good work, well done.” That aphorism defines the calling of its creator, Dorothy Sayers (1893-1957), a Christian intellectual who took seriously the task of integrating faith and her many vocations. A famous novelist, she is less well known as a lay theologian who encouraged Christians to make their work excellent and challenged the church to spell out a Christian theology of vocation.
